While the double hull tanker is not new, the application of today's technology for their design is. Because of this, the Tanker Structure Co-Operative Forum prepared these guidelines for the inspection and maintenance of the new generation of structures.

It is to be hoped that, by making such a publication available, facilities for inspection will be incorporated at design, rather than as a retrofit in later life.
